What Is Required to Become GAF Master Elite?
GAF does not hand out Master Elite status to every contractor who asks. To qualify and maintain Master Elite certification, a roofing company must meet ongoing requirements:
Licensing
The contractor must be properly licensed in all states and localities where they operate. In Massachusetts and Rhode Island, this includes state-level contractor licensing and local requirements.
Insurance
Master Elite contractors must carry adequate liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage. This protects homeowners from liability in the event of accidents or property damage during the project.
Good Standing in the Community
GAF reviews contractors for professional reputation. Contractors with a history of complaints, legal issues, or poor business practices do not qualify.
Ongoing Training
Master Elite contractors commit to ongoing professional development and education on GAF products, installation techniques, and building science. This ensures the contractor's crews install products correctly.

- •50-year coverage on roofing materials
- •**25-year coverage on workmanship** - more than double the standard
- •Non-prorated coverage (GAF pays the full cost, not a depreciated portion)
- •Transferable to a new homeowner once during the warranty period
- •Wind coverage up to 130 mph (or 150 mph with Enhanced Wind)
This extended workmanship warranty is only available when your roof is installed by a GAF Master Elite contractor. A regular GAF contractor cannot offer the Golden Pledge warranty even if they use all GAF products.
